The Great Escape of the Silver Mice

The Great Escape of the Silver Mice

EVENTS

| 10 JULY

In the heart of the historic centre of Monte San Savino, something magical is happening: "The Great Escape of the Silver Mice", an artistic installation by Giovanni Raspini. The eponymous sculptures are symbolically "escaping" from their home, populating the streets and squares in a unique display of contemporary art, design and local traditions.

An installation in the town

Fifty life-size sculptures, made entirely by hand using the lost-wax casting technique, have been placed in the most evocative locations around town. Silver-plated mice, with extremely realistic details, are the protagonists of this conceptual artistic endeavour, transforming the urban setting into an open-air museum.

Art, local pride and storytelling in motion

The work symbolically links the Palazzo dei Topi d’Argento (Palace of Silver Mice) to the town, spinning a narrative thread that winds its way through the alleys and squares. An immersive journey that invites the public to rediscover the town through the visionary and animalier universe of Giovanni Raspini, in an experience that fuses discovery, play and reflection.

Open to the public since 2023, the Palazzo – the former home of Andrea Sansovino – houses multiple collections of unique pieces created by Giovanni Raspini and his team. A vibrant and dynamic place that celebrates Italian craftsmanship and welcomes visitors every weekend, with free admission and guided tours.
