Editor Maddalena Fossati Dondero receives the award in Milan. The Giovanni Raspini Food & Wine Award 2021 was awarded to La Cucina Italiana. Since 1929, it has been the most authoritative and long-established cookery monthly in Italy and the rest of the world. Today, under the direction of Maddalena Fossati Dondero, La Cucina Italiana is at the forefront of contemporary food and wine narratives, promoting "the good and the beautiful" of the agrifood sector.

The editor accepted the award during a reception held at Michelin-starred chef Davide Oldani's restaurant D'O in San Pietro all'Olmo, near Milan, on 6 October. The trophy created by Giovanni Raspini is made with bronze die-casting and depicts a woman's head. Beautiful, strong-willed and contemporary, looking towards the future and sporting thick hair made up of the many types of Italian pasta: fusilli, penne, rigatoni, farfalle, gomiti, gnocchetti sardi, and more besides. Sprigs of olive, basil and cherry tomatoes frame the neck.

This is a meaningful trophy for a magazine that values sociability, tradition and a food culture attentive to the well-being of the body and the land. The Giovanni Raspini Food & Wine Award is a 'lifetime achievement' award given to prominent personalities and brands in the world of food and wine recognising special achievements and innovation in the sector.

This year the award goes to Italy's oldest but also most vibrant and popular cooking magazine, following on from awards to Antonino Cannavacciuolo and the Marchesi Antinori winery.
